What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Like most website operators, we use 3rd party tools to collect non-personally-identifying information of the sorts that web browsers and servers typically make available, such as the browser type, language preference, referring site, and the date and time of each visitor request. Our purpose in collecting non-personally-identifying information is to better understand and improve our posts’ performance and server resources usage.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. Your email address is used only if you opt-in to get notifications for replies to your comment. We hate spam and we won’t send you any other kind of email.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your Gravatar profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Downloads

When visitors download a file from the site we collect the visitor’s IP address and downloaded file info to help spam and bot detection. Information collected from downloads is used exclusively for statistics in our server.

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year in your browser.

If you download files from out site, a couple of temporary cookies will be used to ensure the correct functioning of our download manager. These cookies contains no personal data and are discarded when you close your browser.

Analytics

In order to improve our content and website performance we use 3rd party tools to analyze post and page views, outbound link clicks, referring URLs and search engine terms, user agent and country. We do not store any of this information in our servers.

Google Analytics tracks performance on each page load that includes the JavaScript file used for tracking stats, please refer to the appropriate Google Analytics documentation for the specific type of data it collects.

Jetpack (WordPress.com Stats) also tracks performance on each page. This is exclusively for aggregate performance tracking across Jetpack sites in order to make sure that our code is not causing performance issues. This includes the tracking of page load times and resource loading duration (image files, JavaScript files, CSS files, etc.).

Ads

Ads appearing on our website are delivered using Google Adsense, who may set its own cookies. These cookies allow the ad server to recognize your computer each time they send you an online advertisement to compile information about you or others who use your computer. This information allows ad networks to, among other things, deliver targeted advertisements that they believe will be of most interest to you. This Privacy Policy covers the use of cookies by arduinomodules.info and does not cover the use of cookies by any advertisers.

Who we share your data with

We use Google Analytics and WordPress.com Stats to collect data about our site performance. We use Google AdSense to show you relevant advertisement. We are very careful with our ads, please don’t use an ad blocker and please report any suspicious or malicious ad so we can block it and report it back to AdSense.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

What rights you have over your data

If you have an account on this site, or have left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where we send your data

Visitor comments are checked by Akismet, an automated spam detection service.

Your contact information

We only use the email address provided in the comment form to notify you when your comment gets a response, you have to opt-in to get notifications. If you get any other kind of email from this site please report it to us. We don’t like spam and we won’t contact you unless it’s absolutely necessary.
